Buttermilk Rye Syrup Muffins
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups buttermilk
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 4 tbsp shortening
- 6 tbsp syrup
- 1 egg
- 2 ½ cups rye flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
Method
- 1 Place buttermilk, baking soda, shortening, syrup, and egg in a mixing bowl.
- 2 Beat to mix, then add rye flour and baking powder.
- 3 Beat to thoroughly mix.
- 4 Pour batter into well-greased and floured muffin pans.
- 5 Bake for 30 minutes in a moderate oven (350°F).
