Buttermilk Cornmeal Biscuits
Ingredients
- 1 cup sweet milk
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp melted butter
- Cornmeal (enough to roll into a half-inch thick sheet)
Method
- 1 Mix sweet milk, buttermilk, salt, baking soda, and melted butter in a bowl.
- 2 Add enough cornmeal to the mixture to form a dough that can be rolled out.
- 3 Roll the dough into a sheet half an inch thick.
- 4 Place the sheet on a buttered baking pan.
- 5 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) until brown and crisp, basting occasionally with melted butter.
- 6 Break the cake into pieces instead of cutting, and serve hot.
