Buttermilk Biscuits With Egg
Ingredients
- 1 quart flour
- 2 tablespoons Crisco
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 egg
- 3/4 pint buttermilk
Method
- 1 Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar together.
- 2 Rub in Crisco with your fingertips.
- 3 Add well-beaten egg and baking soda mixed with buttermilk.
- 4 If dough is too stiff, add a little more milk; it should be soft.
- 5 Roll out lightly and handle as little as possible.
- 6 Cut with a biscuit cutter and place on greased baking sheets.
- 7 Bake in a hot oven (425°F) for 10 minutes.
