Buttermilk Biscuits With Egg

Ingredients

  • 1 quart flour
  • 2 tablespoons Crisco
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 pint buttermilk

Method

  1. 1 Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar together.
  2. 2 Rub in Crisco with your fingertips.
  3. 3 Add well-beaten egg and baking soda mixed with buttermilk.
  4. 4 If dough is too stiff, add a little more milk; it should be soft.
  5. 5 Roll out lightly and handle as little as possible.
  6. 6 Cut with a biscuit cutter and place on greased baking sheets.
  7. 7 Bake in a hot oven (425°F) for 10 minutes.
