Ingredients

  • 1 lb butter
  • 2 egg whites
  • Yeast (prepared)
  • Warm milk
  • Flour
  • Sugar

Method

  1. 1 Prepare yeast by rinsing and adding a little sugar and water to activate.
  2. 2 Beat butter and egg whites until very light, then mix with warm milk and activated yeast.
  3. 3 Add flour and beat the mixture for 15 minutes until it forms a tough, light dough.
  4. 4 Keep the dough warm to rise, then beat it down and let it rise twice more for lightness.
  5. 5 Shape dough into saucer-sized rounds and bake in a slow oven (300°F).
