Butter-Worked Strawberry Shortcake
Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 tablespoon butter
- milk
- strawberries
- sugar
Method
- 1 Sift 1 cup flour with 1 teaspoon baking powder and a pinch of salt.
- 2 Work in 1 tablespoon butter, then add enough milk to form a soft dough.
- 3 Bake the dough in large pie tins until done.
- 4 Cool the shortcake, then split it in half.
- 5 Spread with butter and heavily sweetened crushed strawberries.
- 6 Pour remaining crushed strawberries over the cake and serve.
