Butter-Worked Strawberry Shortcake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • milk
  • strawberries
  • sugar

Method

  1. 1 Sift 1 cup flour with 1 teaspoon baking powder and a pinch of salt.
  2. 2 Work in 1 tablespoon butter, then add enough milk to form a soft dough.
  3. 3 Bake the dough in large pie tins until done.
  4. 4 Cool the shortcake, then split it in half.
  5. 5 Spread with butter and heavily sweetened crushed strawberries.
  6. 6 Pour remaining crushed strawberries over the cake and serve.
