Butter Soda Cakes

Ingredients

• 1 lb sugar
• 1 pint milk
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 2 lb flour
• 0.5 lb butter

Method

1. 1 Dissolve the sugar in the milk and stir in the baking soda.
2. 2 Pour the liquid mixture over the flour and add melted butter.
3. 3 Knead the mixture until smooth and light.
4. 4 Place the dough into shallow molds.
5. 5 Bake quickly in a brisk oven (400°F) until done.
