Butter Soda Cakes
Ingredients
- 1 lb sugar
- 1 pint milk
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 lb flour
- 0.5 lb butter
Method
- 1 Dissolve the sugar in the milk and stir in the baking soda.
- 2 Pour the liquid mixture over the flour and add melted butter.
- 3 Knead the mixture until smooth and light.
- 4 Place the dough into shallow molds.
- 5 Bake quickly in a brisk oven (400°F) until done.
