Butter Folded Yeast Rolls
Ingredients
- 1 cup sweet milk
- ½ yeast cake
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- Flour, as needed
- Butter, for topping
Method
- 1 Scald the milk and melt the butter in it. Let cool until lukewarm.
- 2 Dissolve the yeast, sugar, and salt in the milk mixture. Stir in flour until the dough is as stiff as bread dough.
- 3 Cover and let rise overnight in a warm place.
- 4 Roll the dough thin and cut into rounds with a biscuit cutter.
- 5 Place a small lump of butter on each roll, fold in half, and let rise again until light.
- 6 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for about 20 minutes.
