Butter Cream Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup cream or sour milk
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • vinegar (for activating soda)

Method

  1. 1 Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. 2 Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. 3 Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. 4 Alternate adding the flour and the cream (or sour milk) to the mixture.
  5. 5 Mix baking soda with vinegar and stir it into the batter at the very last moment.
  6. 6 Pour batter into shallow tins and bake until done.
