Butter Brushed Parker House Rolls

Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm milk
  • 1 yeast cake
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 egg

Method

  1. 1 Dissolve the yeast in a little warm milk.
  2. 2 Sift flour into a bowl, add sugar and salt, make a hollow, and add the yeast mixture and some milk.
  3. 3 Mix in the egg and remaining milk, then set in a warm place until very light.
  4. 4 Work in enough sifted flour to form a soft dough, then let it rise again until very light.
  5. 5 Roll dough to 1 inch thickness, cut into rounds, brush with melted butter, and double over.
  6. 6 Place rounds in buttered pans 1 inch apart, let rise to double size, and bake to a fine golden color.
  7. 7 While hot, brush the rolls over with melted butter.
