Butter Brushed Parker House Rolls
Ingredients
- 2 cups warm milk
- 1 yeast cake
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 egg
Method
- 1 Dissolve the yeast in a little warm milk.
- 2 Sift flour into a bowl, add sugar and salt, make a hollow, and add the yeast mixture and some milk.
- 3 Mix in the egg and remaining milk, then set in a warm place until very light.
- 4 Work in enough sifted flour to form a soft dough, then let it rise again until very light.
- 5 Roll dough to 1 inch thickness, cut into rounds, brush with melted butter, and double over.
- 6 Place rounds in buttered pans 1 inch apart, let rise to double size, and bake to a fine golden color.
- 7 While hot, brush the rolls over with melted butter.
