  • Brussels sprouts, cleaned and trimmed
  • Salted water
  • A little soda (optional)
  • A good lump of butter or fat
  • Pepper
  • A tiny pinch of nutmeg

Method

  1. 1 Simmer cleaned sprouts in salted water with a little soda (optional) to preserve color, or keep covered tightly, until tender.
  2. 2 Drain the sprouts thoroughly and place them in a clean pan.
  3. 3 Add a good lump of butter or fat, stirring until melted, then sprinkle with pepper and a tiny pinch of nutmeg.
