Brown Sugar Yeast Donut Cakes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Method

  1. 1 Sift flour and brown sugar together into a large bowl.
  2. 2 Dissolve yeast in warm milk. Add to flour mixture and stir until a soft dough forms.
  3. 3 Let dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  4. 4 Knead in softened butter. Shape into small cakes the size of a half-dollar.
  5. 5 Fry in hot oil until golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels.
