Brown Sugar Walnut Fudge

Ingredients

  • 2 cups dark brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 walnut-sized piece of butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

  1. 1 Combine sugar and milk in a saucepan. Cook over gentle heat for 7-10 minutes until the mixture forms a soft ball when dropped in cold water.
  2. 2 Remove from heat and stir in the butter until melted.
  3. 3 Place chopped walnuts in a large bowl and drizzle with vanilla extract.
  4. 4 Pour the hot candy mixture over the nuts. Beat vigorously with long, rapid strokes until the mixture thickens to the consistency of a cream wafer.
  5. 5 Turn out onto paraffin paper. Break or cut into pieces while still pliable.
