Brown Sugar Waffles

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup cream
  • 1 pound brown sugar
  • enough flour to make a stiff batter
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tbsp sherry
  • 1/8 tsp ground mace
  • 2-3 cloves, ground

Method

  1. 1 Melt the brown sugar in the milk and cream, then strain the mixture through a sieve to remove impurities.
  2. 2 Add enough flour to half the liquid to create a stiff paste, then stir in the remaining liquid to prevent lumps.
  3. 3 Stir in the beaten eggs, sherry, ground mace, and ground cloves until well combined.
  4. 4 Pour the batter into waffle irons and bake until crisp and golden brown.
