Brown Sugar Spiced Baked Ham
Ingredients
- 4.5 to 5 lb bone-in ham butt end
- 5 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 0.75 tsp allspice
- 6 tbsp vinegar
- 0.75 tbsp boiling water
- 3 tbsp flour
- boiling water (for gravy)
Method
- 1 Remove skin from ham and pat dry.
- 2 Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and allspice; rub into the fat part of the ham.
- 3 Place ham in a hot oven (425°F) and bake for 40 minutes.
- 4 Baste every 10 minutes with a mixture of vinegar and boiling water.
- 5 For gravy, brown flour in the pan drippings, add pan liquid and enough boiling water to make 1.25 cups. Season to taste.
