Brown Sugar Molasses Cake With Cinnamon
Ingredients
- ½ cup shortening
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- ½ cup molasses
- 2 cups flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon allspice
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- 2/3 cup milk
Method
- 1 Cream shortening and sugar together, beating continually.
- 2 Add beaten egg and beat well, then mix in molasses.
- 3 Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and spices.
- 4 Add half of the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, then add milk.
- 5 Add the remaining dry ingredients and mix well.
- 6 Pour into a greased shallow pan and bake at 350°F for 40 minutes.
- 7 Serve hot with butter.
