Brown Sugar Crusted Ham
Ingredients
- 1 ham
- water
- cracker crumbs
- brown sugar
- whole cloves
- pepper
- egg (optional)
Method
- 1 Soak the ham overnight or for several hours, then wash and scrape it thoroughly.
- 2 Place the ham in cold water, bring to a boil, then simmer for 20 minutes per pound.
- 3 Test for doneness by inserting a skewer; it should withdraw easily if done.
- 4 Let the ham cool slightly in the water, then remove and peel off the skin.
- 5 Sprinkle the top with cracker crumbs and brown sugar, or brush with egg, then press in whole cloves.
- 6 Brown in the oven for a few minutes, or leave white and dot with pepper and cloves.
