Brown Sugar Cinnamon Stewed Pears
Ingredients
- 1 dozen stewing pears
- 1 quart water
- 1 pound loaf sugar
- 2 inches cinnamon stick
Method
- 1 Peel pears carefully and remove cores, leaving them whole.
- 2 Dissolve sugar in water in an enamelled stewpan. Add pears, cover, and simmer for two hours.
- 3 Remove from heat and let cool completely uncovered. Lift pears into a glass dish.
- 4 Strain syrup into a small stewpan and boil over high heat for 15 minutes until reduced to three tablespoons.
- 5 Pour reduced syrup over pears and allow to cool thoroughly before serving.
