Brown Sugar Candied Apples With Ginger
Ingredients
- 1 lb apples (pippins, red-streaks, or wine-saps)
- ½ lb light brown sugar
- Green ginger root (optional)
Method
- 1 Peel and halve the apples.
- 2 Boil the brown sugar with water to create a clear syrup.
- 3 Pour the hot syrup over the apples and let them sit for two days.
- 4 Cook the apples gently until tender and light brown, adding grated ginger if desired.
