Ingredients

  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 5 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 7/8 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup butter, creamed
  • ¾ cup brown sugar

Method

  1. 1 Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. 2 Work in shortening with fingertips, then add milk and stir with a knife until combined.
  3. 3 Roll dough thin, spread with creamed butter and brown sugar, then roll up like a jelly roll.
  4. 4 Cut into 1-inch thick pieces and place cut side up in greased muffin pans.
  5. 5 Bake at 400°F for 15 minutes.
