  • 3½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 cup bran
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp shortening, melted

Method

  1. 1 Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt into a bowl.
  2. 2 Stir in the brown sugar and bran.
  3. 3 Combine the beaten egg, milk, and melted shortening in a separate bowl.
  4. 4 Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix quickly.
  5. 5 Turn batter into greased muffin pans and bake in a 425°F oven for 25 minutes.
