Brown Sugar Almond And Hazelnut Praline Powder

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 cup shelled almonds, skins on
  • 1 cup shelled filberts (hazelnuts), skins on

Method

  1. 1 Combine sugar and water in a saucepan over heat. Stir until sugar is fully dissolved.
  2. 2 Add almonds and filberts with skins. Cook without stirring until the mixture reaches a golden caramel color.
  3. 3 Pour onto a slab or oiled dish. Let cool completely.
  4. 4 Pound the cooled mixture in a mortar until it forms a coarse powder. Store in an airtight jar.
