Brown Rice Tomato Soup
Ingredients
- 2 pints water or stock
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 small onions
- 2 tablespoons Crisco
- 1 cup rice
- 1 cup canned tomatoes, or 4 fresh ones
Method
- 1 Wash and drain the rice.
- 2 Heat Crisco in a saucepan, add rice, and stir constantly until golden brown.
- 3 Add water or stock, onions, chopped tomatoes, and seasonings.
- 4 Cook slowly for one hour.
