Brown Butter Gravy

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup sweet milk
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 small piece butter

Method

  1. 1 Melt 2 tbsp butter in a frying pan over medium-high heat until very hot.
  2. 2 Add 1 tbsp flour, sprinkle over the bottom, and cook until thoroughly browned.
  3. 3 Pour in 1 cup boiling water and bring to a boil.
  4. 4 Mix 1 tbsp flour with 1 cup sweet milk until smooth, then stir into the boiling water.
  5. 5 Add salt, pepper, and a small piece of butter. Cook until thickened and serve.
