Brown Butter Glazed Carrots

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons margarine or butter
  • 1 pound carrots
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pepper
  • 2 teaspoons sugar

Method

  1. 1 Peel carrots, cut in half lengthwise, then into 1-inch pieces.
  2. 2 Melt margarine in a heavy saucepan over low heat.
  3. 3 Add carrots and stir to coat with margarine.
  4. 4 Add water, salt, and pepper. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes until tender.
  5. 5 Drain water, add sugar, cover, and shake pan on burner for 1 minute.
  6. 6 Cook for 1 more minute until glazed but not brown.
