  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 egg-sized piece of butter
  • 1 pint milk

Method

  1. 1 Melt the butter in a saucepan over heat.
  2. 2 Stir in the flour and cook until the mixture begins to brown.
  3. 3 Pour in the milk while stirring constantly with a wooden spoon.
  4. 4 Continue stirring until the sauce thickens to a cream-like consistency.
