Broiled Steak With Onion Gravy
Ingredients
- 2 large onions, peeled and sliced
- 2 tbsp water
- 1/2 pint beef broth or beef gravy
- Mushroom ketchup
- Pepper
- Salt
Method
- 1 Place sliced onions and water in a covered stew-pan over slow heat. Cook until water boils away and onions are lightly browned.
- 2 Add beef broth and boil until onions are tender. Strain the broth, reserving it, and chop the onions very fine.
- 3 Season chopped onions with mushroom ketchup, pepper, and salt. Return to the strained broth and boil gently for 5 minutes.
- 4 Pour the onion gravy into a serving dish and top with a broiled rump steak.
