Broiled Steak With Onion Gravy

Ingredients

  • 2 large onions, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1/2 pint beef broth or beef gravy
  • Mushroom ketchup
  • Pepper
  • Salt

Method

  1. 1 Place sliced onions and water in a covered stew-pan over slow heat. Cook until water boils away and onions are lightly browned.
  2. 2 Add beef broth and boil until onions are tender. Strain the broth, reserving it, and chop the onions very fine.
  3. 3 Season chopped onions with mushroom ketchup, pepper, and salt. Return to the strained broth and boil gently for 5 minutes.
  4. 4 Pour the onion gravy into a serving dish and top with a broiled rump steak.
