Broiled Field Mushrooms With Butter

  • Agaricus campestris mushrooms
  • Salt
  • Butter
  • Toast for serving

Method

  1. 1 Cut off the stem near the cap, peel the mushrooms, and lay them gills up on a dish. Sprinkle with salt and let sit until moist.
  2. 2 Place mushrooms on a fine wire broiler. Turn gills side down to the coals first for a few minutes.
  3. 3 Flip the mushrooms and place a piece of butter on each. Broil until done.
  4. 4 Serve the mushrooms on toast.
