Broiled Beef Steaks With Horseradish And Pickles

  • Beef sirloin or rump steaks (about 6 inches long, 4 inches wide, ½ inch thick)
  • Salt
  • Butter
  • Ketchup or minced eschalot (optional)
  • Pickles
  • Finely scraped horseradish

Method

  1. 1 Prepare a very clear, brisk fire and sprinkle a little salt on it.
  2. 2 Heat a gridiron until hot and set it slanting to prevent fat from dripping and causing smoke.
  3. 3 Place steaks on the gridiron and broil for 10-15 minutes, turning with tongs.
  4. 4 Rub a bit of butter over the cooked steaks.
  5. 5 Serve garnished with pickles and finely scraped horseradish.
