Breaded Fried Fish With Pickle Pepper Sauce

Ingredients

  • Fish fillets
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Crisco or cooking oil for frying
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Crisco or butter
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup milk or cream
  • 2 green bell peppers, chopped
  • 6 sour pickles, chopped

Method

  1. 1 Clean and season fish with salt and pepper.
  2. 2 Dip fish in beaten egg, then coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs.
  3. 3 Fry in hot Crisco until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
  4. 4 Melt 1 1/2 tbsp fat with flour in a saucepan over heat.
  5. 5 Stir in milk or cream and bring to a boil, cooking for a few minutes.
  6. 6 Cool slightly, then stir in chopped peppers and pickles before serving.
