Breaded Fried Fish With Pickle Pepper Sauce
Ingredients
- Fish fillets
- Salt and pepper
- 1 egg, beaten
- Breadcrumbs
- Crisco or cooking oil for frying
- 1 1/2 tbsp Crisco or butter
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1 cup milk or cream
- 2 green bell peppers, chopped
- 6 sour pickles, chopped
Method
- 1 Clean and season fish with salt and pepper.
- 2 Dip fish in beaten egg, then coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs.
- 3 Fry in hot Crisco until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
- 4 Melt 1 1/2 tbsp fat with flour in a saucepan over heat.
- 5 Stir in milk or cream and bring to a boil, cooking for a few minutes.
- 6 Cool slightly, then stir in chopped peppers and pickles before serving.
