Bread Pudding With Raisins

Ingredients

  • stale bread, sliced thin and crusts removed
  • melted butter
  • stoned raisins
  • 1 pint milk
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • plain pudding sauce

Method

  1. 1 Slice stale bread thinly, remove crusts, and dip slices in melted butter.
  2. 2 Layer the buttered bread and stoned raisins in a small bread or square cake tin.
  3. 3 Whisk together 1 pint milk, 2 egg yolks, and 2 tablespoons sugar.
  4. 4 Pour the milk mixture over the bread layers until absorbed.
  5. 5 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for 20 to 30 minutes.
  6. 6 Turn onto a flat dish and serve with plain pudding sauce.
