Bread Pudding With Currants And Cinnamon

Ingredients

  • slices of home-made bread (about ½ inch thick)
  • butter
  • currants
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 pint milk
  • sugar to taste
  • grated lemon peel or cinnamon

Method

  1. 1 Butter slices of bread and layer them in a pudding dish with currants.
  2. 2 Beat eggs lightly and stir into a pint of milk, sweetening to taste and adding grated lemon peel or cinnamon.
  3. 3 Pour the custard over the bread and bake in a 350°F oven until set.
  4. 4 Test with a knife; if it comes out clean, it is done. Serve cold.
