  • 1 quart heavy cream
  • 1 large sprig mace
  • 1 inch whole cinnamon stick
  • 5-6 egg yolks
  • 1 loaf white bread (manchet)
  • Dates, sliced
  • Sugar, to taste
  • Red and white biscuits, crumbled

Method

  1. 1 In a skillet, bring cream, mace, and cinnamon to a boil. Remove from heat.
  2. 2 Whisk egg yolks into the hot cream. Strain out spices. Let thicken slightly.
  3. 3 Slice bread thinly. Layer bread and cream mixture in a dish until full.
  4. 4 Garnish with sliced dates, sugar, and crumbled biscuits. Serve.
