Bread-Base Strained Tomato Soup

Ingredients

  • 1 can tomatoes
  • 1 slice bread, cut into dice
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. 1 Place bread dice in a soup tureen.
  2. 2 Boil tomatoes in a stew-pan, then rub through a colander over the bread.
  3. 3 Return pulp to pan, add water, boil, and strain back into the tureen.
  4. 4 Stir in butter, season with salt and pepper, and serve hot.
