Bread and Butter Pudding With Currants
Ingredients
- 2 oz currants
- 4 slices thin bread and butter
- 3 large eggs
- 4 oz sugar
- 1/8 tsp nutmeg
- 1 pint milk
Method
- 1 Preheat oven to 350°F.
- 2 Wash and pick over the currants.
- 3 Place a few currants at the bottom of a quart-sized baking dish.
- 4 Layer the bread and butter slices with remaining currants between each layer.
- 5 Beat eggs (reserving one white), sugar, and nutmeg, then stir in milk.
- 6 Pour the mixture over the bread layers and bake for 45 minutes.
