Bran Biscuits
Ingredients
- ½ cup bran
- 1½ cups flour
- 5 teaspoons baking powder
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- ½ cup water
- 2 tablespoons shortening
Method
- 1 Mix bran, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar thoroughly.
- 2 Add sufficient water to form a soft dough.
- 3 Add melted shortening and mix until combined.
- 4 Roll out lightly to ¼ inch thickness on a floured board.
- 5 Cut with a biscuit cutter.
- 6 Bake in a hot oven (425°F) for 12 to 15 minutes.
