Braised Rump Steak With Bacon And Wine

Ingredients

  • 1 rump steak
  • lean ham, diced
  • salt and pepper
  • spice blend
  • fat bacon slices
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup stock
  • ½ cup white wine
  • butter
  • 1 clove garlic (optional)

Method

  1. 1 Lard the rump steak with bits of lean ham and season with salt, pepper, and spice.
  2. 2 Slightly brown the steak in butter for a few minutes.
  3. 3 Cover the steak with slices of fat bacon.
  4. 4 Place in a stewpan with chopped onion, stock, and white wine.
  5. 5 Cover and cook for about an hour. Add garlic for the last 10 minutes if desired.
