Braised Beef Stew With Onions And Carrots

Ingredients

  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter or fat
  • 1.5 lbs beef, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 carrot, sliced
  • Water as needed
  • 1 tbsp meat juice or beef extract (optional)
  • Potatoes for serving (optional)

Method

  1. 1 Sauté onions in butter or fat until browned.
  2. 2 Add beef cubes and cook for a few minutes.
  3. 3 Season with salt and pepper, add sliced carrot and enough water to cover.
  4. 4 Simmer gently for 1.5 hours until meat is tender.
  5. 5 Stir in meat juice or beef extract 10 minutes before serving.
  6. 6 Serve meat and carrots in a large dish with potatoes on the side.
