Braised Beef Stew With Onions And Carrots
Ingredients
- 2 onions, sliced
- 2 tbsp butter or fat
- 1.5 lbs beef, cut into 1-inch cubes
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 carrot, sliced
- Water as needed
- 1 tbsp meat juice or beef extract (optional)
- Potatoes for serving (optional)
Method
- 1 Sauté onions in butter or fat until browned.
- 2 Add beef cubes and cook for a few minutes.
- 3 Season with salt and pepper, add sliced carrot and enough water to cover.
- 4 Simmer gently for 1.5 hours until meat is tender.
- 5 Stir in meat juice or beef extract 10 minutes before serving.
- 6 Serve meat and carrots in a large dish with potatoes on the side.
