Braised Beef Roast With Onions And Carrots

Ingredients

  • 6 lb beef cross-cut (chuck or bolar)
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 medium onions
  • 1 carrot, cut into quarters
  • 1 1/2 cups boiling water

Method

  1. 1 Wipe the beef with a damp cloth and pat 1/2 cup flour onto the meat.
  2. 2 Brown the meat quickly on both sides in a frying pan.
  3. 3 Place the meat in a fireless cooker or moderate oven (350°F) along with onions, carrot, and boiling water.
  4. 4 Cook slowly, allowing 30 minutes for the meat to start, then 25 minutes per pound. Baste frequently.
