Braised Beef Chuck Roast With Orange And Allspice
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 tablespoons water
- 2 1/2 pounds boneless beef chuck roast
- 2 cups hot water
- 1 beef bouillon cube
- 1 tablespoon orange juice
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
Method
- 1 Dissolve the bouillon cube in 2 cups of hot water to make beef broth.
- 2 In a small bowl, stir together the broth, orange juice, allspice, and pepper.
- 3 Chop the onion to yield 1/2 cup.
- 4 Heat 2 tablespoons of water in a skillet over medium heat.
- 5 Add the onion and simmer until tender.
- 6 Add the roast to the skillet and brown it on all sides.
- 7 Pour the broth mixture over the meat.
- 8 Cover and simmer for 2 hours.
