Boiling Water Molasses Ginger Snaps
Ingredients
- 1 cup molasses
- 2 tablespoons fat
- ½ cup boiling water
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon ginger
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon cloves
- about 4 cups flour
Method
- 1 Mix molasses, fat, and boiling water in a bowl.
- 2 Sift together 1 cup flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, salt, and cloves.
- 3 Add dry ingredients to wet mixture, then add enough flour (about 4 cups total) to make a stiff dough.
- 4 Roll out dough, cut into shapes, and bake in a moderately hot oven (425°F) for about 15 minutes.
