Boiled Turnip Tops With Bacon
Ingredients
- Turnip tops (shoots from old turnip roots)
- Cold water (for soaking)
- Water (for boiling)
- Salt
- Bacon (optional, for Virginia style)
Method
- 1 Soak turnip tops in cold water for one hour before cooking.
- 2 Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add a small handful of salt.
- 3 Add the turnip tops and boil for about 20 minutes until tender.
- 4 Drain the vegetables on a sieve and serve, optionally with bacon.
