Boiled Orange Pudding With Orange Sauce
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 4 tablespoons shortening
- 3/4 cup orange juice and pulp
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 orange juice
- 1 orange grated rind
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
Method
- 1 In a mixing bowl, cream together 1/2 cup sugar, 1 egg yolk, and 4 tablespoons shortening.
- 2 Add 3/4 cup orange juice and pulp, then mix in 1 1/4 cups flour and 3 teaspoons baking powder.
- 3 Beat the mixture until smooth, then turn it into a well-greased and floured mold.
- 4 Cover the mold and boil for one hour.
- 5 While the pudding cooks, combine 3/4 cup sugar, 1/2 cup water, 1 orange juice, 1 orange grated rind, and 2 tablespoons cornstarch in a saucepan.
- 6 Stir to dissolve the sugar and starch, then bring to a boil and cook for three minutes.
- 7 Serve the hot pudding with the orange sauce.
