Boiled Cornmeal Pudding
Ingredients
- 3 quarts water
- 1 cup cornmeal
- Salt to taste
- Additional cornmeal as needed
- Milk, molasses, butter, and sugar for serving
Method
- 1 Boil 3 quarts of water in a large pot.
- 2 Mix 1 cup of cornmeal with cold water until thin enough to pour easily.
- 3 Pour the cornmeal mixture into the boiling water while stirring constantly with a wooden spoon.
- 4 Add salt to taste and continue stirring, adding more cornmeal if needed to thicken.
- 5 Boil for about 1 hour, stirring frequently, until thick.
- 6 Serve hot with milk, molasses, butter, or sugar.
