Boiled Cornmeal Mush With Nuts
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups boiling water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup cornmeal
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped raisins, peanuts, figs, dates, prunes, apricots, or coconut
Method
- 1 Combine boiling water, salt, and cornmeal in a saucepan.
- 2 Sift cornmeal into the water slowly while stirring to prevent lumps.
- 3 Move saucepan to the side of the stove and cook slowly for 30 minutes.
- 4 Serve hot as a cereal with honey and milk, or add optional dried fruits or nuts.
