Boiled Beef With Parsnips And Cabbage

  • 5-6 lbs beef
  • Cold water
  • Parsnips
  • Cabbages
  • Dumplings (optional)

Method

  1. 1 Place beef in a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil over heat.
  2. 2 Skim off any scum that rises to the surface, then reduce heat to maintain a gentle boil.
  3. 3 After one hour, add parsnips in a mesh bag or net. Boil gently for another 30 minutes.
  4. 4 Add cabbages in a mesh bag or net. Continue boiling until beef is tender, about 2 hours total.
  5. 5 Optionally boil dumplings with the beef for the final 30 minutes. Serve meat and vegetables.
