Boiled Beef With Parsnips And Cabbage
Ingredients
- 5-6 lbs beef
- Cold water
- Parsnips
- Cabbages
- Dumplings (optional)
Method
- 1 Place beef in a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil over heat.
- 2 Skim off any scum that rises to the surface, then reduce heat to maintain a gentle boil.
- 3 After one hour, add parsnips in a mesh bag or net. Boil gently for another 30 minutes.
- 4 Add cabbages in a mesh bag or net. Continue boiling until beef is tender, about 2 hours total.
- 5 Optionally boil dumplings with the beef for the final 30 minutes. Serve meat and vegetables.
