  • 1 piece bacon
  • 2 split cabbages
  • 2 carrots, split
  • 2 parsnips, split
  • Peppercorns
  • 12 peeled potatoes
  • Crusts or thin slices of bread (for soup)

Method

  1. 1 Place bacon in a large pot with water. Bring to a boil and skim well.
  2. 2 Add split cabbages, carrots, parsnips, and peppercorns. Boil gently for 1.5 hours.
  3. 3 Add peeled potatoes and cook until tender.
  4. 4 Remove bacon and vegetables. Place on a serving dish and garnish with the vegetables.
