Boiled Apple Milk Custard Pie

Ingredients

  • 6 medium apples
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 quart milk
  • 2 oz sugar
  • Rind of 1/2 lemon
  • Almond or vanilla extract

Method

  1. 1 Pare and core the apples.
  2. 2 Boil apples in 1 pint water with 2 oz sugar and lemon rind until soft.
  3. 3 Remove apples from liquid and place in a pie dish.
  4. 4 Heat milk and whisk with beaten eggs to make a custard.
  5. 5 Sweeten and flavor custard to taste, then pour over apples.
  6. 6 Bake until custard is set.
