Boiled Apple Milk Custard Pie
Ingredients
- 6 medium apples
- 5 eggs
- 1 quart milk
- 2 oz sugar
- Rind of 1/2 lemon
- Almond or vanilla extract
Method
- 1 Pare and core the apples.
- 2 Boil apples in 1 pint water with 2 oz sugar and lemon rind until soft.
- 3 Remove apples from liquid and place in a pie dish.
- 4 Heat milk and whisk with beaten eggs to make a custard.
- 5 Sweeten and flavor custard to taste, then pour over apples.
- 6 Bake until custard is set.
