Biscuit Layer Strawberry Shortcake
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 3 tablespoons shortening
- 1 egg
- ½ cup milk
- butter
- crushed strawberries
- sugar
- whipped cream
- powdered sugar
Method
- 1 Sift flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar. Cut in shortening.
- 2 Beat egg into milk, then add to dry ingredients to form a soft dough.
- 3 Divide dough in half. Pat one half into a greased deep layer tin and spread with butter.
- 4 Cover with the second half of dough. Bake in a 425°F oven for 20-25 minutes.
- 5 Split the cake while hot. Layer with crushed sweetened berries and whipped cream.
- 6 Top with whipped cream and whole berries. Dust with powdered sugar and serve.
