Beef Broth Dumplings

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs stewing beef
  • 1 soup bone
  • 2 quarts water
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1½ cups flour
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup milk

Method

  1. 1 Cook the stewing beef and soup bone in water until the meat is tender.
  2. 2 Remove the meat from the broth. Add water if necessary to ensure you have 2 quarts of broth.
  3. 3 Mix the beaten egg and milk into the flour to form a batter with the consistency of pancake batter.
  4. 4 Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the boiling broth to form small dumplings.
  5. 5 Cook the dumplings for 3 to 4 minutes.
