Beef And Salt Pork Soup
Ingredients
- 4 ounces fat salt pork, diced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1/2 medium carrot, sliced
- 2 pounds lean beef, cut into small dice
- 3 pints boiling water
- Salt and pepper to taste
Method
- 1 Dice the salt pork and place it in a saucepan over heat. Stir until the pork begins to turn brown.
- 2 Add the chopped onion and sliced carrot. Fry until the vegetables are partly browned.
- 3 Add the diced lean beef and fry for five minutes.
- 4 Pour in 3 pints of boiling water. Season with salt and pepper.
- 5 Boil gently for three-quarters of an hour.
